Modern printing presses make it possible

With ultramodern printing presses and permanent shift operation, our press specialists offer you the ultimate in service quality. For printing on your packaging, we have gravure presses for up to ten colours and a digital printing machine for up to seven colours, enabling us to reproduce even the most sophisticated artwork with superb quality.

Gravure printing

We can print up to ten colours with our gravure presses. Our gravure presses deliver outstanding print quality with a very good degree of reproducibility. The main print applications involve films for the food, non-food, pet-food, and pharma segments. In this domain, the trend is heading toward ever more sophisticated state-of-the-art motifs. Our gravure presses allow the application of additional lacquers and printing of special spot colours. Our two gravure presses with 10 printing couples each provide a capacity of 70 million m2 per year.

Digital printing

Thanks to digital printing, we can produce target-group-centric flexible packaging on short notice. The HP Indigo 20000 is a roll-to-roll digital press with a web width of 762 mm and a repeat length of up to 1100 mm. With this width, the digital press covers virtually all formats and materials used for flexible packaging films and pouches.

Seven inking units are available (four process colours, three spot colours). The entire process is digital. It can handle data in Adobe Acrobat starting with version 1.5, ArtPro, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign. It goes without saying that images and artwork are reproduced with brilliant colours. Digital printing is suitable for dry and wet products.

Packaging with special effects

Partial mat lacquering is the most common finish applied with gravure presses. It is a very noble design element that among other effects showcases especially delicate motifs and typography. A recommendation: as little lacquer as possible should be applied to achieve the most striking effect. The lacquered surfaces stand out both visually and haptically if only about 5 to 15% of the printed surface is lacquered.

Mat and gloss effects are also easily achievable with digital presses. However, the most interesting aspect in digital printing is the ability to print mat and mirror gloss effects across the full surface, which even produces a 3D look, depending on the artwork. Further interesting effects can be achieved by cleverly combining the laminate, ink, and colour coverage. As an example, quasi-metallic effects can be created.
